Summer days out with Hettie

Summers days together

“All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather , delightful friends , and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.”

L.M. Montgomery

Summer days out together are wonderful aren’t they ? Sunshine , longer days and exploring together. And our Hettie collections ensure that you can do it together in style with matching accessories

Picnics

What better way to spend a lazy summers afternoon than in a lovely location with the family, playing games and tucking in to a picnic. National picnic week celebrated all those memories and images of blue skies, green grass, blankets and hampers of food.

An inexpensive day out, a picnic provides the chance for quality family time playing traditional games such as rounders or just relaxing with a good book and some music.

Accessories for pets and little girls

Pretty ladies and matching accessories ! Nothing better than twinning with your best friends .

Our Imogen children's handbag is a smaller version of the ladies Ella crossbody bag. Mabel is co-ordinating perfectly with the humans in her pretty dog coat and matching dog lead.

Sezincote

If you are looking for somewhere special to visit , Sezincote House and garden is a must.It is situated just outside Moreton-In-Marsh and very near to Batsford Arboretum.

Sezincote is unique. At the heart of a traditional, family-run estate covering 3,500 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside stands a 200-year-old Mogul Indian palace, set in a romantic landscape of temples, grottoes, waterfalls and canals reminiscent of the Taj Mahal.

We visited recently and absolutely loved it. We are planning a visit back there in the winter to see the gardens decked with frost and snow .

Cotswold lavender

I love Lavender . The smell is beautiful and the purple flowers so pretty in the garden. They remind me of holidays in France too. We live not far away from Cotswold Lavender in Broadway and it is a wonderful place to visit when the lavender fields are in full bloom

  • The name Lavender comes from the Latin verb, "lavare," which means to wash
  • Lavender comes from the same family as mint
  • Over 2500 years ago, lavender was used in ancient Egypt during the mummification process
  • Back in the Elizabethan times, when baths weren't common practice, lavender was used to perfume clothes and bed linen
  • The scent of lavender deters mice, flies, mosquitoes and other pests from the area
  • Lavender oil can be used to soothe aching muscles and joints, reduce anxiety and stress, and to induce sleep
  • It is a commonly used ingredient in potpourri
  • Nectar from lavender plants are used to make high quality honey
  • In the language of flowers, lavender can mean devotion, luck, success, happiness or distrust
  • Lavender plants don't produce seeds; propagation is done by cutting or root divisions
  • Most lavender plants are blue or purple, but there are some varieties that come in pink and yellow

Summer bags

Ladies - we all need a good bag for summer days out , and our Kate tote bags fit the bill perfectly. They are roomy enough to fit in everything you need for a trip out, without compromising on style .

And our Multispot wine option is bright and cheery for summer days . The design and colour combinations have been inspired by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Our contemporary spot design has been lovingly created with richer combinations of damson, mulberry & walnut , and is part of the Hettie Woodland Collection.

Visiting stockists

Last month we took a trip to Tetbury to visit some of our lovely stockists.

Tetbury is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and the second largest town in the Cotswolds. It is the home of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall and, was an important market for Cotswold wool and yarn during the Middle Ages. Today, it is better associated with boutique shops, great food, and its Royal Connections. Highgrove gardens are simply beautiful and definitely worth a visit. Book in advance ! And nearby Westonbirt is a must see also with it’s stunning arboretum

We have stayed before in the Hare and Hounds - a beautiful hotel just outside the town. On our recent trip we had a lovely lunch outside on the garden terrace watching a wedding being set up . I had everything I needed for the day in my loch Heather Hettie handbag.
