Hettie's little piece of France

Ten years ago the Hettie family bought ourselves a little piece of France . It is a cottage in the Tarn-et-Garonne area of France in the stunning countryside between medieval villages and close to the river. Our happy place ,and perfect to completely switch off and all spend time together as a family with friends and dogs .

Our closest town is Caylus. Situated in the beautiful Tarn et Garonne it is many people's idea of a dream holiday destination, with its warm almost mediterranean climate, eclectic mix of French and Catalan cuisines, beautiful rivers and breathtaking hills.

The scenery is stunning and the colours of summer glorious. We spend most of our time outside , and our big outdoor garden table is the place for many many happy times and laughter .

We have used the stunning colours on the doors for many of our product shots of our handbags !

Our dogs always come too and are professionals at travelling the long way in the car between our houses. We travel through the Eurotunnel with ease and stop overnight in a dog friendly hotel on the way down . You can read all about travelling to France with your pet in our blog for Eurotunnel here

When we arrive , the dogs just fit straight back in to their french life. There are amazing walks right on our doorstep which we all enjoy.

French markets are the best way to shop for your food. Fresh fruit and vegetables , cheese , bread all beautifully displayed and we love wandering through them. There is one in a town nearby most days. Our favourite is the Sunday market in nearby St Antonin Noble Val. Vibrant , colourful and something the whole family enjoys.

Our Kate tote bag is perfect for carrying everything home from the market .

Living near the river Aveyron means we get to spend time messing about on it or near it. Bruce our boxer dog discovered he liked canoeing last year and was the Captain of our boat for a little while. There is a lovely little restaurant Manjo Carn  on the river which we enjoy sitting in and watching the river go by enjoying a glass of something cold and some al fresco dining

He is perfectly dressed for the occasion in his Hettie collar

So many places to tell you about to visit ! Montauban has a stunning square -the Place Nationale where we enjoy people watching and the children can run around together. Dogs are very welcome everywhere and often come out with us to restaurants.

And the french have a wonderful way of including everyone . All ages eating out together and in the summer there are many evening food festivals and Marches Gourmand which we love.

If you would like to find out some more about this area please get in touch via the comments below. We would be happy to tell you more ! And if you have been and have recommendations do let us know.

Happy holidays !
