A Hettie family Christmas

Tradition and special time together

I love Christmas . It is going to be very different for us all this year , but it's good to have even something little to look forward to , and memories of all the lovely Christmases that we have spent before.

For me , Christmas is about seeing special people, and the traditions that we have in our family. And the big noisy meals together with a house full of people - and dogs .

Every year we visit the little nursery in the neighbouring village to choose our Christmas tree . Tom the head gardener there has been selling us our trees for around 20 years and I love the tradition of visiting him and trying to decide the best tree to have . My children used to stand before him choosing the tree , and now it is my grandchildren's turn .

Our Christmas tree.

We live in a big old house which looks so lovely decorated for Christmas .

I love going up in to the loft and bringing the boxes of decorations down each year. It's like seeing old friends again.

Many of our decorations have been around for a long time and have memories attached to them . Things that the children made when they were little , and things that are special to the grandchildren now. We have a little robin that has been in the family since I was a little girl . Hopefully he will be here for the next generation to put on the tree .

Decorations relating to dogs seem to be part of the theme also - we seem to accumulate more each year ! And we now have some of our Hettie decorations to hang.

Wintry walks

We always have a long walk with the dogs on Christmas day and Boxing Day.

No rushing around , and a walk through the fields by the river near our house. We are so fortunate to live in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside.

For cold wintry walks , our Hettie dog coats are perfect for the pooches.

And of course , the gifts

Choosing presents for people is something that I always enjoy .

I always buy gifts that I would love to receive myself. This year , it feels more important than ever to choose the perfect gift , and give a gift that lasts .

Wrap up warm

Wrapping up warm on winter days is lovely isn't it ?

Over the last few years we have gone to Blenheim Palace as a family to see the Christmas lights illuminated trail. Such a special Christmassy thing to do together ! It's great for adults , but especially the children who all love it . Christmas through the eyes of a child is always magical.

For wrapping up warm and cosy , our Hettie hats and scarves collection is perfect .

In glorious colours and made in Britain from 100% wool , these beautiful Hettie scarves perfectly pair with anything and feel super soft on your skin .

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her ’kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter…
