Escape to the country

Nature inspired colours, patterns and textures

Have you heard of the concept of biophilic design ? The word biophilia means love of living things. Nature design makes us feel good because people are born with the connection to nature, and humans are attracted to all that is alive and vital .

Five to twenty minutes in a biophilic environment can trigger a positive restorative response. These reactions are swift, automatic and unconscious include:

• Decrease in blood pressure, heart rate and the stress hormone

• An increase in self-esteem and mood

• Enhanced cognitive function, concentration and memory

On our blog this week

Inspired by the delights of the enchanting British landscape, Hettie launched an exclusive trinity collection range; Woodland, Riverside and Spa. Themed to evoke our favourite memories of the UK's stunning countryside, the collection is designed to recreate feelings of bliss drawn from the natural world and surroundings.

Escape to the country with our Hettie Collections and draw positive emotions from our country inspired designs

Picnics with Hettie

Anyone else love a picnic ? We do , and it's perfect at the moment for a change of scenery with people that we live with during lockdown .

One of the recipes that we like to make is for Anzac biscuits which everyone enjoys

These iconic biscuits were originally made to send to the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) serving in GallipolI . This is the recipe we use by BBC Good Food

Fresh air and a good book in the garden

At the moment we are enjoying snuggling up in the garden with a cuppa under one of our cosy throws and reading a good book.

We are loving The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society this week . This wonderful novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows is set in German occupied Guernsey which is a place we used to visit on family holidays.

Definitely worth a read - and the film is excellent too !

What we are loving in our garden at the moment

Life goes on around us in the garden and the changing seasons are bringing us different blooms to see all of the time. We love Aliums with their rounded cluster of rose- pink star shaped flowers. Very graceful and adding wonderful structure to the borders.
