A Hettie Family Easter

Easter season is finally here and it is important to remember what this springtime holiday is really all about : the season of renewal. This religious day marks rebirth in many different ways, from the bloom of spring flowers after a long winter to the Christian celebration of resurrection.

"Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope , renewal and new life" - Janine de Giovanni

This is certainly very poignant after our last few weeks of isolation and distancing. We all need to remain positive and remember that this period in our lives won't last forever. Use the time to think about the simple things in life that are important to you and your family.

Spring is truly one of the most hopeful times of the year. The flowers are blooming, the weather is finally warming up, and it's the perfect season to start fresh and begin again.

"Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life " - S D Gordon

It is also time for chocolate bunnies and egg hunts which we love in our family ! This year we will be deviating from our normal routine and have planned an easter egg hunt in Gran's garden via Facetime ! Technology is helping immensely with still being able to see and chat to friends and family.

Normally it is a time to get together and hopefully eat outside and walk the dogs.If the weather is dry we will have a family barbecue and egg hunt around the garden. The children need to find the eggs before the dogs do !

Easter did not always symbolize Christ's resurrection from the dead and the meaning of Easter was quite different than what Christians celebrate today. The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. Celebrated in the early spring, it honored the pagan Saxon goddess Eastre. When the early missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, the holiday, since it fell around the same time as the traditional memorial of Christ's resurrection from the dead, was merged with the pagan celebration, and became know as Easter. The meaning of Easter was also changed to reflect its new Christian orientation.

Stay safe and positive everyone . Better days will be coming . Have a peaceful Easter weekend and remember to help everyone by staying in your homes and gardens.
