A trip to Crete with the Hettie family

Travelling to far off places has become something we can't just do anymore , so we thought it would be nice to take you to some of the beautiful places we have been lucky enough to visit over the past few years.

Lose yourself on a Greek Island with our trip to Crete this week.

Crete, Greece's largest island, is known for its varied terrain, which ranges from fine-sand beaches at Elafonisi to the White Mountains. Mt. Ida, the tallest of the range, is home to the Ideon Cave, which was the birthplace of Zeus, according to Greek mythology. The capital, Heraklion, is home to the renowned Heraklion Archaeological Museum, housing Minoan artifacts, and Knossos, a Bronze Age settlement.

We stayed for the first couple of days in the beautiful old town of Chania on the sea front

It is lovely to wander around the Old Town's maze-like alleys. Beautiful fountains , Venetian mansions and elaborate churches are perfect for strolling around . The different architectural styles show off the historical route of the city , and it is also a perfect place to stop in one of the beautiful sea front restaurants and while away some hours people watching

The colours of Crete are amazing !

Crete has fabulous beaches and crystalline seas and there are plenty of places to choose from .

Crete is a very varied place to visit , with cosmopolitan cities as well as unspoilt hidden villages , beautiful countryside and dramatic gorges and mountains high enough to be snow capped well into summer !

There is also an amazing amount of history : the birthplace of Zeus and cradle of Europe's earliest civilisation  Crete can boast a history even longer than classical Greece. A trip to Knossos is a must and it is amazing place to wander through the ruins of such ancient history

And our pretty  colourful Hettie accessories are perfect for sightseeing :-) Our phone case is also useful for slipping a pair of sunglasses into

Have you visited Crete ? Let us know what you loved most about it . We love seeing other people's photos !
